We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce the release of our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2005 Syrah.

We’ve seen a lot happen in the Napa Valley in the last ten years. As the valley has gained recognition, Rocca’s name has also risen to be recognized among some of the top Napa Valley wines among collectors today. Our estate vineyard holdings have expanded to include the Collinetta vineyard in Coombsville, a rocky-soiled vineyard rising to a “little hill” - literally collinetta in Italian - with 360-degree sun exposure, in addition to our Grigsby vineyard in Yountville. We opened the Rocca Family Vineyards tasting salon on Main Street in downtown Napa in 2005, and are delighted by the growing number of visitors who stop in after hearing about Rocca’s wines in their hometowns across the country.

We’ve already had some incredible praise for our 2005 wines, and we’re eager to share it—and the wines—with you:

* In the July 23rd issue of the Wine Spectator “Insider,” James Laube gave our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon 92 points.

* The San Francisco Chronicle gave our 2005 Syrah two and a half stars in their August 29th tasting panel, and we think it’s one of the loveliest Syrahs we’ve made.

2005 Rocca Syrah
True to the flavors of this vineyard, the 2005 Rocca Syrah shows smoky cherry and wild plum aromas, with a touch of dried lavender and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine shows its ripe concentration yet retains an overall impression of elegance, with a soft, polished texture at the finish.

2005 Rocca Cabernet Sauvignon
Black cherry, dark plum and raspberry notes dominate the aromas, while floral vanilla, anise and cinnamon notes provide support. On the palate the texture is broad and silky, with mocha and black currant notes dominating the finish.
